Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (anti-NMDAR) encephalitis was not infrequent in our hospital; however, the MRI characteristic was not typical and the clinical outcomes after therapy were poor in some patients. Therefore, we tried to investigate the brain MRI characteristics of anti-NMDAR encephalitis and their associations with clinical outcome at a 2-year follow-up.
For our article, we enrolled 53 patients with anti-NMDAR encephalitis and performed a 2-year clinical follow-up. Half of the patients had normal brain MRI, and the presence of hippocampal lesions was associated with poor outcome.
