Flow-diverting devices have changed the landscape of brain aneurysm treatment significantly in a very short time. We need to know more about the use of these devices in the posterior circulation.
Flow-diverting devices are a useful tool for managing posterior circulation aneurysms that are not effectively treatable with other techniques. Our research provides other interventional neuroradiologists with more information on the effectiveness and risks of posterior circulation flow diversion when choosing the best treatment to offer their patient.
We have received positive verbal feedback from many interventional neuroradiologists in Australia, the UK, and in France.
We are continuing our ongoing research of new devices for brain aneurysm treatment. New generation endosaccular devices that position woven mesh across the aneurysm neck from the inside of the aneurysm (rather than from the parent artery) may be the next area to expand rapidly.
We presented the findings of our multicenter Australian registry at a meeting in Nice, France, in September 2012.
